Courage Through Friendship
This scene depicts the struggles that transwomen endure when they are open about who they are. They staged how they have to wear masks, hiding their true identity, to make other people feel more comfortable. Yet the scene shifts to show how, through friendships with other transwomen, they find the courage to be who they are, and smash the masks that they used to wear. This scene is a powerful expression of the impact of transphobia on transwomen’s lives (see “Courage through Friendship” poster created for dissemination).
