Home Should Be Safe and Fun
The below scenes illustrate that bare-bone housing on the outskirts of the GTA is not sustainable. Instead what these women/transwomen want is more than just four walls and a key – they want a space where they can enjoy themselves, be with their friends and family, while feeling safe and secure. The first set of pictures focused on two Aboriginal women’s expressions of their ideal housing and is featured in the “Home Should Be Safe and Fun” poster. The second set of pictures embodies the idea of a “happy home” and a “sweet home”. The last picture is from a scene that visualized the ideal home to be in the country, where one could relax, read a magazine and spend time with friends. This session took place in an Aboriginal community agency.
